Not with words, but with hands in the soil, feet firm upon the land that has known centuries of toil and rebirth. On Saturday, May 10th, at Tinhela610, we will launch the first edition of our annual event; Grow Green. It will be a day of homage—a return to the roots, to the pulse of nature that still beats strong in the heart of Trás-os-Montes region.

Morning light will spill across the hills, golden and wise, waking the land and those who gather. With the first breath of day, we will step forward, not as mere visitors, but as stewards of this sacred terrain. The hills and the fields will welcome willing hands, seeking not only wonder but also intentions—an unspoken promise to the land that feeds us, shelters us, heals us.

Featuring Portuguese herbalist Fernanda Botelho

Guiding our hands and minds will be Fernanda Botelho, a guardian of the plant kingdom, whose deep knowledge of medicinal and edible herbs will remind us that nature offers its cures with quiet generosity. Holly Niemela will lead us in the art of presence, teaching us to root ourselves as firmly as the trees, to breathe as deeply as the forest. And Édouard Payen will guide us through movement, a dance between body and landscape, a return to our natural rhythm.

The river murmurs its approval as we walk. It knows the rhythm of our breath, the patience of innate presence. Beneath the open sky, each tree, each plant and flower, is a testament to time—an offering to the future. We will walk as our ancestors did, with reverence, without haste, attuned to the quiet wisdom of the mountains that cradle this place.

At midday, we will gather, breaking bread together. The meal will be simple, honest—nourishment drawn from the same earth we honor. Casa Dona Fonseca and O Forno de Jales, masters of tradition and flavor, will craft a feast that speaks of this land—freshly baked bread, warm and fragrant, with olive oil and honey--flavors that linger like stories passed from one generation to the next. Laughter will weave through the branches, carried by the wind, a reminder that joy, too, must be cultivated.

We continue our walks and practices after the lunch. Now, striking up conversations of ecology, of sustainability, of shared love for nature. As the afternoon wanes, the land will hold the memory of our presence. The soil will breathe a little deeper. We, too, will leave changed—our hands dirtied, our spirits cleansed.

In this place, where stone and sky meet, where history lingers in the whispers of the wind, Grow Green is not just an event. It is a pledge. A promise that this land, so rich with story, will continue to flourish. That in tending to it, we tend to ourselves.

Come. Answer the call of the earth.
